September 2026
September was another busy month. There was a training for potential prospects to mentor at the Children’s Home on the first Saturday however several of the prospects couldn’t attend so I scheduled a second training and added a third. I also met with the Children’s home staff in an effort to streamline the matching process and the good news is it appears some of the bugs we’ve been struggling with have been ironed out. Coordinating the ministry there has been a lot more work than I anticipated, as now there are 32 boys, but when I see the joy on those kid’s faces when a man comes to spend some time with them it’s all worth it.
Saturday the 26th was the annual revival for three of the prison’s housing units. Several hundred men usually attend these so there is a lot of planning involved to make things run smooth. This year all the planning fell apart as soon as we got there! The tent we pitch for the Sun unit was unavailable and we actually had to do the program from the other side of the fence from the men. The larger event was for the combined Snow and Sleet units and was scheduled to take place in the gym, but when my team and I arrived, I was told because of security reasons the gym was unavailable, so we had to move the program to the chapel. The Chaple is too small, so another battle plan was necessary. We quickly reworked the program to do the revival twice. We had the men from Snow come first and then did it again for Sleet. It sounds simple enough, but the men had to be fed now at two separate times and the icing on the cake was that we were not allowed to cook at the chapel as we have in the past so we had to bring the meals a few hundred yards from where we cooked to the participants. It sounds chaotic and there was definitely a lot of shuffling behind the scenes, but THE DAY ACTUALLY WENT SMOOTH AS GLASS. There is no problem that the Lord can’t handle. I don’t have the results tallied yet, but I know well over 300 men heard the gospel and many responded. A special thanks to all the volunteers, and my inmate helpers that helped make the day a success. Please be praying for the follow up on the decisions and prayer requests that were made. We try to do as many one-on-one contacts as possible.
We have also begun preparation for “A DAY WITH DAD” which is scheduled for Saturday November 14.
Logistically this is more work than all the other programs we do combined so please be in prayer over the next few weeks as we put all the pieces together. I am meeting this week with the fathers that have been approved to attend and then we begin reaching out to the caregivers in an effort to get the children there.
It’s also recruitment time for volunteers. I have attached volunteer information if you think you may be interested in serving . Applications can now be filled out at our website. Click Here
We are co-workers in God’s service (1 Corinthians 3:9 ). Those who go, those who send, those who pray.
Some are preparing the soil, some plant, others fertilize and water, and some get the joy of participating in the harvest. Thank you for the part you play in this ministry!
